We are not losers. We are Lasers

Lupe's album finally got a release date, March 2011! Still a while away even though he finished the cd a few months ago, but I'm already pumped for "Lasers"

- The Show Goes On - Lupe Fiasco -- First official single off of his upcoming cd. Lupe samples Modest Mouse's "Float On," and he makes a really catchy song. A little bit too radio-friendly for me, but it's still awesome.

- I'm Beaming - Lupe Fiasco -- This song has been out for a while, but it's awesome. We went to a Lupe/B.o.B. concert during the summer and this was probably my favorite of the ones he did.

- I Gotcha (ft. Jack Johnson) - Lupe Fiasco -- Fantastic combination of Lupe's "I Gotcha" and Jack Johnson's "If I Had Eyes"

- Make Her Mine - Mayer Hawthorne (ft. Intuition) -- A great combination of r&b and rap. No youtube link, sorry, but definitely download, this song is great.

- Fade - Cal (youtube) -- Normally I hate autotune, but these guys use it and make it sound awesome. This is a song that can get stuck in your head real fast, so be warned.

- That Tree (ft. Kid Cudi) - Snoop Dogg (youtube) -- For some reason I haven't seen this song even though it's been out for a while, but it's pretty great. Cudi does a great job on the chorus

- Dr. Feel Good - Travie McCoy (youtube) -- Of course everyone's heard "Billionaire," but I like this song a lot more. Super catchy. FYI, we went to a Cudi concert at Babson and Travie performed. He was horrible. He's really not that good. Though he does have a few good songs. (Plus, he's not as bad as Dosage...)

Throwback:

- Ocean Avenue - Yellowcard (youtube) -- This song came up on shuffle on my 11 hour flight back from BA the other day, and I absolutely love it. Definitely brings back the middle school memories.

They make music in England?

Before the British music, here's some stuff from home:

- Bright Eyes (Demo) -- Vonnegutt - Kind of strange lyrics, but it's a really catchy song. Give it a listen, I bet you'll enjoy it.

- The Dean's List - If you haven't heard of them, they're a rap group from Boston, and they've got some great songs. Here are three of them for you to check out and download.

Download - No Sleep (Right-click and go to "save link as")

- Turn Around (5, 4, 3, 2, 1) - Flo Rida (youtube) -- I heard this song and immediately dismissed it as another annoying Flo Rida song. But then I was told by someone whose opinion I value that it was actually good. So I listened again, and unfortunately it kind of grew on me...so give it a chance

Now some music from across the pond:

- If You Got The Money - Jamie T (youtube) -- This song isn't new, but it's fantastic. If you like the style listen to "Sheila" and "Sticks and Stones," two of his other better songs.

- Won't Go Quietly - Example (youtube) -- I hadn't heard of this guy before about a week ago, but after hearing one of his songs I was pretty hooked. He combines rap with music that you can dance with, and it comes out fantastically. Listen to Watch the Sun Come Up as well, it's great.

Then think this one over: Where are all the baby squirrels?

Canciones

- I Heart NY (feat. Joell Ortiz) - Samuel -- This song is amazing. Ortiz adds a verse to Samuel's hit "I Heart NY," and it goes perfectly with the original. When I like a song with a Yankee's shout out in it, you know it has to be good.

Download - I Heart NY (feat. Joell Ortiz)

- In for the Kill (feat. Kanye West) - La Roux (youtube) -- The original song was pretty catchy, and Kanye adds a verse to the middle that is pretty good. Not as catchy (or damn annoying) as "Bulletproof," but give it a listen and you'll probably like it.

- Random Song That Doesn't Fit - Gabriel Stark -- I've never heard of this guy before, but this is a great college song (I would know...) - listen to the lyrics. Stark goes over "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz, and it comes out sounding amazing. No youtube link, but download it and you won't regret it.

- Jay, 50, and Weezy - Dee-1 -- You've got to have some confidence to write a rap critiquing three of the big names. Catch song with a pretty good message.

- G.R.I.N.D. (Get Ready It's A New Day) - Asher Roth (youtube) -- Not really new, but this is a pretty great song. Really catchy.

The site got mad at me for posting the link (apparently Roth just uploaded to iTunes so it's no longer free). Too bad. Still worth 1.29 though...

That's it for now, be back later this week. Support Chiddy Bang's new album on iTunes, too.

New Tunes

- Stoned (Feat. Del the Funky Homosapien) -- Chris Young the Rapper -- Young is coming out with a new album called 1991 that is supposed to be a throw-back to the "golden era" of rap, and this song sounds like it definitely could have been written back then. No youtube link, but this song is really really good, take my word for it and download.

- Marry You - Bruno Mars -- Bruno Mars is awesome.

- The Abrahammer - Whoop Whoop (Lil' Wayne x Blink 182) -- I don't like Lil Wayne. But Blink 182 is pretty awesome, and I find myself liking this song. No youtube link, but give it a download, it's only like two minutes long. Cross between "Mrs. Officer" by Wayne and "What's My Age Again?" by Blink 182.

Download - Whoop Whoop (for this one you have to right click and go to "save as", sorry)

- Relaxation (feat. Omen and Fashawn) - J. Cole (youtube) -- Not sure if I love this song, but it's still some good J. Cole. There's no chorus really, so don't expect one.

- From Above - Ben Folds and Nick Hornby -- Some alternative music now. Ben Folds' new album just came out, and it's awesome. The poet Nick Hornby wrote the lyrics and Folds put them to music, so it ends up being fantastic melodies and awesome stories. This is one of the better songs on the cd, and the story it tells is kind of cool. Give it a listen, and if you like it get the album on itunes, it's worth it.

Chiddy

Chiddy Bang's new album "The Preview" comes out on October 12th, so in homage to the man here are some of his leaks off the new album and Xaphoon's new stuff. These songs are all fantastic, so it's recommended that you download them. All of them.

- Old Ways - Chiddy Bang

- All Things Go - Chiddy Bang

- Bad Day - Chiddy Bang -- Kind of a negative song, but it's pretty fantastic. No youtube link, but download it if you like any of their other songs.

- Here We Go (feat. Q-tip) - Chiddy Bang (youtube) - Great song that should be on the album when it comes out

- The Good Life - Chiddy Bang (youtube) - Not at all related to the Kanye song. Still great though.

- Round 2 - The Cataracs (youtube) - Not Chiddy, but this is a great dance song. Definitely download it. I'm becoming a pretty big Cataracs fan after all that their new music recently.
